Remedial education (also known as developmental education, basic skills education, compensatory education, preparatory education, and academic upgrading) is assigned to assist students in order to achieve expected competencies in core academic skills such as literacy and numeracy.

Some remedial approaches include breaking tasks down into smaller chunks, reteaching skills and using a different teaching approach that may be a better fit for the way your child learns. Remedial approaches tend to focus on specific strategies to help develop specific skills.

If remedial instruction isn’t helping the child to make enough progress, it may be time to talk with the school about compensatory measures. This approach looks for ways to build on the child’s strengths and work around weaknesses.

Let’s say a child has a reading issue. Audio books or text-to-speech software can provide alternative ways for him/her to access material at her grade level. This approach helps struggling readers expand their vocabulary. It exposes them to more complex ideas than would be available in books at their current reading level.

Another example of a compensatory approach would be to let a child with writing issues use speech recognition software that converts her own words to text.

By providing correct level and nature of accommodation, the child in need would benefit positively.

Individual Remedial Sessions :

At Antara, we offer after school remedial services from early years to senior students, understanding their true potential, differentiating their learning material. These are focused one on one sessions with clear objectives stated. We offer student progress monitor including parents and students feedback.

Extended Inclusive Setup:

We are enthusiastically looking forward to set up skill building sessions(Learning centre -matching students’ learning styles) to deliver foundation skills like literacy, numeracy, social and emotional development leading to raising students’ self efficacy and self esteem positively. These are carefully designed as  small group instructions for students who can be pulled out from school for a stipulated period of time, enhance their foundation skills and later blending in the school with increased confidence.
